The International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) and ISO/IEC 18745 standard series are the international test standards for functional validation of electronics Machine Readable Travel Documents (eMRTD) implementing ISO/IEC 14443 standard protocol in 13.56 Mhz RF communications. It is the foundation for ensuring the durability, reliability and interoperability of ePassports, European Resident Permits and ID cards. The ICAO - ISO/IEC 18745 standard series and derived testing solutions allow conformance assessment of:

• End-user contactless eMRTD

• Packaged devices (inlays, modules, mobile eMRTD)

• Embedded integrated circuits (hardware chips, secure elements)

• Inspection system (Reader)

• Durability based on ISO/IEC 18745-1

• ISO/IEC 14443 Analog level implementation based on ISO/IEC 18745-2

• Application level implementation TR-ICAO Part 3
